Entry #10: Acts of Kindness

Entry #10: Acts of Kindness
Image result for holiday christmas photosTo begin, Happy holidays everyone! This entry will be simple, as I will introduce something that will make the holidays a little sweeter. Acts of Kindness. Every year we all prep and gather together to share traditions that I say are pretty important. Large feasts, family gatherings, gift giving, and the ball drop; all of these things play a role in our society and lifestyle today. It is all significant; however, what happens to those who can't enjoy the holidays with loved ones? What about those who you may know and consider them to be a "scrooge"? Unfortunatly not everyone this year is going to have a "Happy Thanksgiving" or "Merry Christmas"; and some people may be over the idea of the holiday season. Routine can be boring; it doesn't make any person ungrateful or miserable to want some change in their tune. What better to have joy than to give joy?

Here are some things to make a holiday a little sweeter this year, or every year. 1. "Give away left overs"; fridges are going to be piled up with: turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc. Now I love thanksgiving left overs on a Friday morning, but the excess amount of food I won't eat can most certainly go to someone who would like a warm meal. Buy cheap Tupperware from a dollar store (forks, napkins, knives) and make small meals for those you think may need them, majority being the homeless. Do so with others to ensure safety and possible quality time. 2. "Give a card"; some encouraging words can encourage others. Buy or make a few cards with a theme of the season; add a few words of kindness and pass them out to those you think could use a pick me up! Anything to liven up their day for example; "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, I hope you have a great next year!". It can be short and simple or add a candy cane .

3. "Sweets!" Who doesn't have a sweet tooth? Even if you can't bake, store bought sweets work too. Buy the office doughnuts, send your kids to school with cookies, pass out seasonal candy to strangers. Point is pass out sweets.
Though a simple entry, try to use these small practices to spread some joy. I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving break and Stayed tuned.
