Entry #5: Cleaning Lady Commercial
Entry #5: Cleaning Lady Commercial
(Cleaning Lady Commercial: AllState Mayhem)
All things aside, the look the man gives before falling backwards on the stairs, is gold. I chose the Cleaning Lady commercial, because of how goofy this commercial is. The way he knocks over the vase sarcastically and eats the piece of bread. So clearly he is a house keeper who isn't doing his job, but this isn't the point. As he climbs the stairs; he falls, which means because he was hurt whilst working, he needs to be compensated. This commercial reminds home owners that although you can have hired help for cleaning, it is still a job that requires securities. Any injuries or accidents that happen while on the job, must be compensated and handled by the employer. That being said, the "maid" asks are you covered by your insurance incase this happens?
This is directed to home owners, but by seeing the home style and lack of certain things, I'm assuming this ad is specifically for the elderly. The house is neat and lacks youth decorated with older styles of furniture. There is a puzzle on the table (I have puzzles, but who has puzzles now and days?), they own a home phone and an older computer. Older couples would be more likely to need extra help and can be unaware that having a maid is more than paying a person to clean, they're an employee. It's meant to be a joke with an important message. He does his duties contacting what a maid normally does and goes a far as saying, "I'm the worst maid ever". I mean just giving up and falling back on the staircase with a grin is just so silly. I like the mayhem commercial and hope you stay tuned for more later!
This might have been the funniest one yet. He clearly did not care about their furniture. I believe everything you said was accurate from homeowners needing insurance as well. Great blog. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI watched this video when I was researching for this blog, and I totally missed the look he gives before he falls down the stairs. I'm so glad you mentioned it. I literally ugly laughed at this, this one was awesome. I'm so glad you wrote about it, most others wrote about the same one. It became a reoccurring theme when I was going through all the blogs. Great job on picking up on little things and mentioning. It shows that you were paying attention. Glad I read your blog. It was an awesome one. You are totally right on the fact that yes the maid is hired to do a job and accidents do happen, which would then allow the maid to sue or hold the homeowner responsible for the medical bills.
ReplyDeleteThe mayhem commercials are always the best. While the commercial does make about anyone to laugh, or at least chuckle, it does bring up an excellent point because most people probably don't even have home insurance. When people think about their home they probably don't think that and accident could happen because it is their safe place. You did bring up a good point though about elderly people having maids, something I didn't even think about. And in this day in age if someone gets hurt they almost always will want to sue to get some money out of it.
ReplyDeleteThe mayhem commercials are always funny. Your ad is really simple but it does describes how this ad persuades people to get Allstate and save money. Most likely people now in days like to sue other people in different scenarios one of the scenarios is when people get into car accident and don't have any car insurance. Keep it up with your blogs I love the way you express yourself and how you describe this mayhem commercials.
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard at this ad - I've definitely come across some reckless people like this in my life! I didn't notice that this ad might be targeted towards older people with the way the scenery was set up but after you mentioned it, it made a lot more sense.
ReplyDeleteYour observation about the scenery is great! From personal experience, only the elderly people I have known have had housekeepers. Insurance isn't just because of possible disasters or robberies, you could even need it for housekeepers!
